Just take a quick look at that thing in your hand now… 98% of you reading this will be reading it on a phone, you know the device that was meant to make and receive calls. Remember when it was just that?
The device has changed It’s a camera. It’s a phone. It’s a notetaker. It’s a reminder. It’s Calendar. It takes videos. You can watch movies and another other incredibly useful things that once upon a time we couldn’t have imagined would be possible in this small bucket of bolts.
Depending on where you are in the world Phone in your hand is either the number one device or the number one thing that you carry and have access to new sentence where the Internet was the desktop or heaven forbid the laptop. They’ve both been predominantly replaced by a device we hardly use for voice phone calls any more.
In fact the voice calls that we make now don’t go by the phone system but most likely some messaging app that users data not voice whether it be WhatsApp Messenger telegram signal line WeChat all of those now take precedence over the lowly old phone call.
When was the last time you made a phone call using the phone functions of your phone?
How many phones do you have now? Has the golden age of phones passed us by and now we've just got a mini computer in our hand?
I reminisce about the times when the phone was something that after you got somewhere you found a phone and let everybody know that you are safe or that days would go by without contact at all, in anyway and life would go on regardless, now it seems that something is wrong If some sort of contact hasn't happened in a very short space of time 10 15 20 times a day.
We've created such a Rod for our backs.
The freedom, the perception of freedom, may still be there, but the actual freedom is gone.
