Rejoining Amazon Affiliates In 2026
Is Amazon Still Worth It In Australia?
I finally rejoined the Amazon affiliate program….Again
Yep… It’s been a while since my last serious run with Amazon Associates, and honestly, a few things have changed since the old days.
Back then, getting approved as an affiliate felt like the big hurdle. These days? Amazon lets you in almost immediately. Sounds easier… but there’s a catch.
You now need to make qualifying sales within a fairly short time period or they cancel your affiliate status again.
At first, I thought: “That’s a bit harsh.”
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised it’s actually a smart filter. Amazon wants active people recommending products — not thousands of dead affiliate accounts sitting around doing nothing.
Still, it definitely adds pressure for beginners.
If you’re just starting out with affiliate marketing, that little ticking clock can feel very real.

The interesting thing for me is seeing how much Amazon itself has changed in Australia.
For years, Amazon Australia felt like the “lite version” compared to the massive US store. Smaller range. Slower adoption. Less excitement. Most Aussies still seemed to shop locally or head straight to eBay.
But lately?
I’m noticing more Australians casually saying:
“I just got it on Amazon.”
That wasn’t nearly as common a few years ago.
Fast shipping, Prime memberships, easier returns, and increasing product range have slowly shifted consumer habits here.
The USA Amazon store still feels bigger, more exciting, and often cheaper for certain products — especially tech, gadgets, books, camera gear, and niche items.
But the Australian store is definitely catching up.
And that creates an interesting question for content creators, bloggers, influencers, and side hustlers:
Should Australians promote the Aussie Amazon store… or the USA one?
Honestly, I think both have their place.
The Aussie store works better for convenience, local delivery, and easier trust with everyday shoppers.
The US store still wins for sheer variety and “hard to find” products.
As someone who’s spent decades around the internet, digital marketing, and affiliate programs, I find this stuff fascinating because it reflects how online behaviour changes over time.
People used to hesitate buying online.
Now they’ll buy almost anything from their phone while sitting in a café.
Affiliate marketing itself has changed too.
Years ago, people spammed ugly banner ads everywhere hoping for clicks.
Today, the better approach is far simpler:
real recommendations,
real experiences,
real usefulness.
People don’t want to feel “sold to” anymore.
They just want someone they trust saying:
“Hey, this thing was actually useful.”
That’s probably why affiliate marketing still survives despite all the changes online.
At its best, it’s simply word-of-mouth with a tracking link attached.
And yes… I’ll admit it:
there’s also something nostalgic about logging back into Amazon Associates again after all these years.
A little internet full-circle moment.
So now I’m curious:
Do you use the USA Amazon store more… or the Australian one?
Because I genuinely think the answer says a lot about where Australian online shopping is heading over the next few years.
Drop your answer:
USA 🇺🇸 or Aussie 🇦🇺
I’d honestly love to know.
