Love Isn’t Perfect… And That’s The Point
Sometimes the internet throws up a quote that just hits differently.
Not because it’s polished.
Not because it’s poetic perfection.
But because it feels real.
This one has floated around for years, often linked to Bob Marley, and whether he actually said it or not almost doesn’t matter anymore. The message stuck because people see themselves in it. (See Full Quote At End)
The Bit That Matters
“She’s not perfect – you aren’t either.”
That line alone probably saves more relationships than most advice books.
We spend so much time chasing the “perfect” partner that we forget real connection is usually messy, emotional, inconsistent, funny, frustrating… and human.
The Modern Problem With Love
Social media has turned relationships into highlight reels.
Perfect sunsets.
Perfect couples.
Perfect captions.
Perfect lives.
But real love?
Real love is:
- staying after the argument
- laughing at stupid jokes
- forgiving mistakes
- knowing someone’s flaws and choosing them anyway
That’s the stuff that actually lasts.
The Line That Hits Hardest
“Hold onto her and give her the most you can.”
Simple. Honest. True.
Not ownership.
Not control.
Not trying to “fix” someone.
Just appreciation.
Because finding someone who genuinely makes life better — calmer, lighter, happier — is rarer than people admit.
Love Isn’t About Perfect Timing
Sometimes people arrive when your life is in chaos.
Sometimes they arrive after heartbreak.
Sometimes they arrive when you weren’t even looking.
And somehow… they still become home.
and so…
“There are no perfect girls, but there will always be a girl who is perfect for you.”
Maybe that’s the real lesson.
Stop looking for perfection.
Start recognising connections.
That’s usually where the good stuff begins.
You may not be her first,
her last, or her only.
She loved before.
She may love again.
But if she loves you now,
What else matters?
She's not perfect—you aren't either,
And the two of you may never be perfect together
But if she can make you laugh,
cause you to think twice,
and admit to being human and making mistakes,
hold onto her and give her the most you can.
She may not be thinking about you every second of the day,
But she will give you a part of her
that she knows you can break her heart.
So don't hurt her,
don't change her,
don't analyse, and
don't expect more than she can give.
Smile when she makes you happy,
let her know when she makes you mad,
and miss her when she's not there.
Love with your whole being when you receive love.
Because there are no perfect girls, but there will always be a girl who is perfect for you
