My Top AI Uses Have Changed
I’ve been using AI for quite a while now, and recently I noticed something interesting.
My number one use of AI has changed.
For a long time, creating and refining articles was probably my most common reason for opening ChatGPT.
It helped me get ideas out of my head, turn rough thoughts into something readable, restructure articles, find better headlines and generally make my writing better.
But something has recently pipped it.
#1 Image Creation
Image creation is now my number one use of AI.
And honestly, I didn’t really see that coming.
I’m finding myself using AI to create images for articles, social posts, ideas, promotions and simply to visualise something that’s been floating around in my head.
The big difference is that I don’t have to spend hours searching for the perfect stock image.
I can describe what I’m thinking and create something much closer to the idea I actually have in mind.
That changes the whole creative process.
Instead of asking:
“What image can I find that fits this article?”
I can ask:
“What image would best communicate this idea?”
That’s a pretty significant shift.
#2 Article Creation & Refinement
Article creation has dropped to number two, but it’s still a huge part of how I use AI.
I don’t generally expect AI to write everything for me.
I use it more like a creative partner.
I might start with a rough idea, a rant, a few notes or even just a question.
Then AI helps me turn that mess into something I can actually work with.
It can help with structure, headlines, introductions, refining awkward sections and spotting things I might have missed.
Most importantly, the ideas are still mine.
AI simply helps me get them from my head onto the page.
The Interesting Part
What I find most interesting isn’t really the ranking.
It’s how quickly the way we use AI can change.
A few months ago, I might have said:
“AI is brilliant for writing.”
Today, I’d probably say:
“AI is brilliant for helping me turn ideas into things.”
Sometimes that’s an article.
Sometimes it’s an image.
Sometimes it’s a completely different idea I hadn’t considered five minutes earlier.
And I suspect my AI usage ranking will look completely different again in another six months.
That’s probably one of the most interesting things about AI.
You don’t necessarily change your tools. You change what you discover you can do with them.
