Why I Had to Swap Hosting Companies (and What I Learned Along the Way)
You know those moments where your gut just says, “It’s time”?
That’s exactly how I felt about my old web hosting setup. Not efficient any more….
The was one Big Reason why I changed, however i'll get to that later…
For years, I’d been loyal to NameHero & A2Hosting, Great prices, solid support, and they honestly helped me through the growth of my projects, especialy in the Indonesian space. But over time — as my sites, plugins, and client load expanded — things started to creak a bit.
Pages slowed.
Support queues lengthened.
And uptime was ok…. but
Things started to change… limits decreases, simple things that made the user experience less than ideal.
Well, let’s just say I had a few too many “glitches” and alerts for my liking.
The Breaking Point
The final straw?
A site was slow, opened with a frustration “checking if you are a real person” message that took WAY to long before the site began to load
went offline again during a minor update. Nothing major — just a plugin refresh — and yet it caused a full timeout.
Emails were time and time again restricted… you gotta get emails
When you’ve got deadlines, campaigns, and live sites depending on your setup, that’s just not good enough. I spent day's chasing logs, patches, and tickets before I realised the simple truth:
It wasn’t me. It wasn't meant to be.
As loyal as I am, it was time….
The Big Move to Hosting.com (formerly A2Hosting)
So, after a bit of late-night Googling, speed tests (and a few too many coffees), testing setups and site load times, I settled on Hosting.com — the rebranded A2Hosting — and the big picture was… “Alright, let’s give this a go.”
They ticked a lot of boxes:
- Faster LiteSpeed servers
- Better locations closer to clients need (11 locations as I write)
- Better caching built-in
- SSDs on every plan
- Default Email Redirect
- And critically, their Reseller Hosting used cPanel
- Hosting Admin looked clean, modern, and scalable.
Migration was surprisingly painless. Their team handled most of the transfers, and everything — emails, SSLs, DNS — slotted neatly into place. Within hours, I was up and running again.
The difference? Night and day.
Load times halved or better!
Support replies came in under 10 minutes always, and they have a local Support team based in Bali in MY time zone!
And for once, I felt like I wasn’t fighting my own infrastructure.
Lessons Learned (The Hard Way)
If you’ve been online for a while, you’ll know: hosting isn’t sexy, but it’s everything.
It’s like plumbing. You only notice it when it stops working.
Here’s what I’d say to anyone running multiple sites, client projects, or digital products:
- Don’t wait for downtime to make the switch.
- Always test with a small migration first.
- Look for hosts that grow with you — not against you.
- Support matters more than savings.
In the end, I didn’t move because of price.
I moved hosting because of peace of mind.
Final Thoughts…. Almost
Switching hosts felt like decluttering my digital house.
Less stress, better performance, and a clearer head knowing my sites (and clients) are sitting on something solid. Hosting is important!
If you’re feeling those same “is it time?” vibes with your hosting, it probably is. Make it Effortless
Trust your gut — it’s usually right.
There Endith Part I
Final Note: I spoke about the BIG REASON that all this came about, which, I will talk in depth in Part II, stay tuned!
