Your Life Isn't a Straight Line
I came across a simple illustration recently that really made me stop and think.
On the left is your past. Hundreds of possible paths once lay ahead of you. Every decision you made opened some doors while quietly closing others. Schools, careers, relationships, places you've lived, businesses you've started, opportunities you took… and plenty you didn't.
Those closed paths aren't failures. They're simply roads you no longer travel.
Then there's today.
Right now, you're standing at the only point that really matters. You can't change the routes behind you, but you can choose where to head next.
And that's the exciting part.
The future isn't one fixed destination. It's a network of possibilities. Every conversation, every new skill, every person you meet, every small action creates another branch. Some will lead nowhere. Others could completely change your life.
That's one of the reasons I enjoy technology and AI so much. They don't replace your journey, they simply reveal new paths that didn't exist a few years ago.
The older I get, the more I realise life isn't about having the perfect plan.
It's about staying curious.
Keep learning.
Keep saying yes to interesting opportunities.
Keep walking.
Because your future isn't already written. It's being created by the choices you make today.
Remember: Your past explains you. It doesn't define you. Your next chapter starts with your very next step.
