Feature Requests For Your Community
There is a funny thing about making feature requests.
You can spend hours listing all the things you think a community platform should have. Better posts. Better courses. Better messaging. Better payments. Better analytics.
So, I decided to make a list.
31 features I would love to see in a community platform.
Only one problem…
Skool already has them.
Community Feed & Posts
💡 Rich Community Posts: Rich text editing with direct image uploads, GIFs, file attachments, and video embeds from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom and Wistia.
💡 Interactive Voting Polls: Native multiple choice polls embedded directly into community posts for quick member feedback.
💡 Channel & Topic Categorisation: Custom categories for organising discussions, questions and resources.
💡 Threaded Discussions & Likes: Nested comment replies and one click likes that contribute to community points.
💡 Pinned Posts: Keep important announcements, guides and onboarding information at the top of the feed.
💡 Direct Messaging: One to one private messaging for networking and member conversations.
💡 Global Search: Search across community posts and content instead of endlessly scrolling to find something.

💡 Tiered Member Levels: Automatic progression through different community levels.
💡 Dynamic Leaderboards: Public rankings showing leading contributors across 7 day, 30 day and all time periods.
💡 Level Locked Content: Unlock additional classroom modules, resources and bonuses as members reach higher engagement levels.
Payments & Memberships
💡 Native Payment Processing: Built in credit and debit card processing through Stripe without requiring external checkout systems.
💡 Flexible Membership Models: Free communities, one time payments and recurring monthly or annual memberships.
💡 Tiered Memberships & Multiple Pricing Plans: Different access levels for different types of members, including standard and VIP options.

Communication & Marketing
💡 1 Click Email Broadcasts: Send a community post directly to members’ email inboxes.
💡 Onboarding Questionnaires: Ask screening, qualification and intake questions during signup.
💡 Built In Affiliate Program: Create recurring revenue opportunities when members start their own communities.
💡 Built In Growth Boost: Automated advertising and membership marketing designed to help communities grow.
Administration & Analytics
💡 Community Analytics & Metrics: Track important numbers including Daily Active Users, Monthly Active Users, MRR, retention and student progress.
💡 Role & Permission Management: Give admins and moderators the appropriate access to manage the community.
💡 Zapier & Webhooks API: Connect member information and community activity with CRMs, email platforms and automation systems.
Mobile
💡 Native iOS & Android Apps: Give members a fully featured mobile experience for community participation, notifications and course consumption.
And That’s The Problem…
It would be helpful if Skool had these 31 features.
Oh…
Wait.
That’s the point.
Sometimes we get so focused on what a platform doesn’t have that we completely overlook what it already does exceptionally well.
I’m not saying Skool is perfect.
No platform is.
But when I started putting together my imaginary feature request list, I realised something rather interesting.
A lot of the things I was asking for weren’t really feature requests at all.
They were already sitting there.
Final Thoughts
This is one of the reasons I’m spending more time looking at what Skool can actually do rather than endlessly comparing platforms based on feature lists.
Because features are only useful when they help you achieve something.
A community platform doesn’t need 500 buttons.
It needs to make it easier to:
Build a community.
Teach something useful.
Create engagement.
Make money.
And keep people coming back.
And perhaps the most interesting feature of all?
You might already have access to the features you’re looking for.
